This is the poster for film '5 minutes of heaven' - I have never actually heard of this film but I was drawn to this poster when doing my research as it features the faces of two males, and our short film is going to include two main male characters - the business man and the vagrant.
- I really like the use of black and white, I think this makes the poster look almost vintage, and in some way I feel that it draws attention to it more than colour would.
- I also like the contrast between the black and white and the black and yellow, sepia tone could have been use here but the yellow provides an effective brightness, which allows the poster to stand out more.
- I think that the way the faces are both emotionless, almost sad, makes the poster intriguing, and automatically allows the audience to see what sort of film this is - for example, it is clearly not going to be a comedy.
- The plain font used fits in with the whole mood of the poster and I think that this looks really effective, it highlights that there is no need to use a big exciting font to draw attention to it.
- There is deffinately a simplistic feel to this poster which automatically drew my attention to it, and I like the way that the characters whole faces are not shown, this makes me intrigued.
- A negative I would give to this poster is the font sized used for the actors names, I found that this was the first thing I noticed when looking for the name of the film, as these are both well known british actors, there wasn't really any need for the film company to make their names so big.
- The use of 3 main colours looks effective and not too complicated, this also reflects the mood of the film - bright colours would have looked too happy, positive.
I have saved so many, i'll try and upload some more later! xxx
