I found this video on youtube.com its called "why?" and was a Thinksync 2008 short film finalist. the poignancy of the vocal script is important in this video. but the montage where he gets up from his seat at the railway station and he going down the escalators. the basic story is that he has broken up with his girlfriend is in a state of depression. the composition is straight onto his face and he is looking directly at the camera. whether he is lying down, standing, sitting the camera is always straight on this keeps a rhythm and reduces confusion for a viewing audience.
this is a shot from the short film and i like the way that it seems that his world revolves around his waiting at the train station, or that his moment of clarity. I like the way the simple shots and clean editing lets the audience focus on the message and what the character is saying. this may be harder for us. to make it deep and have a moral with out it being patronising or us pontificating.
