I went to see 'The Soloist' starring Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx, the film tells the story of a vagrant and a middle class man who are binary opposites and become linked. This is similar to what we want to do with our project, however at the end of our short film the two characters will not be friends.
Although the film did not quite reach my expectations, I did find it really inspiring for our project, as the central theme throughout the film is homelessness - and at times it feels as though this is what is mainly being explored, and not the relationship between the two men. I felt that the film deffinitely has a moral message, and I came away feeling sorry for vagrants. At the end of the film text appeared on the screen with the number of homeless people living in LA, which made me feel mixed emotions, sad and lucky.
It was clear that meeting the vagrant changed the life of the selfish 'business man' character which is what we would like to imply at the end of our film. x
